After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1976, I was employed in the capacity of 'Partner' at S. Savarimuttu & Company, a firm of Chartered Accountants. Subsequently I moved to Lusaka, Zambia as a result of my being selected to work at Coopers & Lybrand, Public Accountants. However, whilst appreciating my work and deriving immense pleasure and experience out of it, I yearned to start up on my own in order to provide a personalized service to clients' business challenges.

Nihal Hettiarachchi & Company, Chartered Accountants, was formed in the year of 1985. My memory of that turning point in my life will neither be erased nor diminished from my mind. I will not cease to remember how much hard work was directed towards the endurance of the firm in those early days. Today, when I sit back and observe with immense pride at the success and growth of Nihal Hettiarachchi & Company, I feel that I have reaped the benefits that I strove so hard for. My determination to focus mainly on speed and efficiency has earned its dues from our Clients.

If we are new to you, this booklet will give you some idea of what our firm is all about. As specified in the booklet, even though Nihal Hettiarachchi & Company mainly offers only the services of assurance, accountancy and tax, we have three associated private companies for Company Secretarial Procedures, Management Consultancy Services and IT Solutions. It is one of my strongest aspirations to offer as much services as possible to my Clients, so that in the end it is they who benefit by enjoying the 'one stop' convenience. It is common knowledge that Diversification is the key to survival, corporate growth and unstinctive success. That is what we at Nihal Hettiarachchi & Company endeavor to achieve.

My children are now heavily involved in the day to day activities of the firm and it is my hope that they will do their best to preserve the family spirit and traditions that evolve around the firm and work towards the furtherance of Nihal Hettiarachchi & Company and the RNH Group, with the same flavour, care and devotion I have bestowed on it all these years.
